Live Sound
Sam has worked Front of House live at various gigs across the years, notably, he works with Manchester based function band Guitar George, providing their live sound and monitoring. For this, Sam uses his own live rig, providing quality sound from Midas Preamps in a convenient form factor for any live event.
Sam has also had experience with a variety of full live mixing desks.
Monitors
Sam has a custom built monitoring rig featuring 16 channels of analogue splits and Midas Preamps, with up to 8 monitor outs for In Ear Monitoring or wedges. This rig can provide clear, consistent, dedicated monitor mixes, ensuring artists can hear themselves on any stage. Sam built this rig to be as versatile as possible, for use in any scenario, it includes a selection of live microphones, stands, and IEM body packs. This rig can also be used to run playback, further increasing its versatility
Studio Engineering
Sam has always been fascinated by guitar tone and the interplay between different elements of the signal chain. This love quickly grew to encompass all things studio engineering, microphone choice and positioning, preamps, EQ and compression.
Sam has worked as an engineer for several recording sessions, with artists such as Jake Morin and Pulse.
Jake Morin's 'Starling (Live)' EP features stereo guitar amplifiers recorded with various microphone techniques, on an EP consistently entirely of just one guitar and one vocal
Pulse's upcoming music features a selection of sounds Sam created with Pulse's Ben Bramhall from big fuzz to clean.
Mixing and Mastering
Sam is dedicated to bringing the best out of your music in all his work, constantly learning new tools and tecniques. He has amassed a vast collection of industry standard plugins, from Universal Audio and Soundtoys to Fabfilter and Sonnox which he uses for his work.
Holly Nicholson's 'heartbreak era' EP is Sam's first produced and mixed body of work to be released. Sam is currently working with Holly on her 2nd EP
